The Wool Boat

picture of Colin and Carole

A few weekends ago I had the pleasure of  hopping aboard The Wool Boat...owned by the lovely Capt Colin and wife Carole. This wonderful canal barge (Emma Maye) is their home, studio, workspace and shop.  A recent article in the local paper mentioned they were due to visit the lovely marina in my village, (I was sooo delighted I marked it on the calendar straight away!)  I've wanted to take a peek at their wool stash for ages but have never been able to make it for one reason or another. So camera and purse in hand off I went and I wasn't disappointed! They were both so friendly and happy to have a natter (they have their own regular knit and natter sessions on board). It was really cosy and homely in there. There were boxes and drawers full of different types of was hard to choose but in the end I decided to add to my cotton stash and bought some James C. Brett Kool Kotton.

You'll find lots of information on their website, and you can follow their adventures on Capt Cols blog,  If they are in your area then please go take a look - don't miss it!

What a fab and unique way to shop for yarn. Thank you both for providing such a wonderful woolly service!

Edit to add...the knit and natter groups are held at the local pub wherever they are moored for that day - marvellous!
